It is the responsibility of the user of the software/hardware, to ascertain, and obey, all applicable local, state and federal laws in regard to the use of the software/hardware for "sneaky purposes". By downloading and installing the software and/or purchasing the hardware, you represent that the software/hardware will be used in only a lawful manner. 

Logging other people's keystroke or breaking into other people's computer without their knowledge can be considered as an illegal activity by many American courts.  Our software/hardware is intended for authorized system administrators and/or owners of the computer.

Summary: The legality of such monitoring is governed by 18 U. S. C. % 2510 et seq. The statute does not directly address the propriety of keystroke monitoring by system administrators. We believe that such keystroke monitoring of intruders may be defensible under the statute. However, the statute does not expressly authorize such monitoring. A banner notice is recommended. The banner should indicate to authorized users that they may be monitored during the effort to monitor the intruder.
